This is a story about love crossing the barriers of tradition, culture and ethnicity to be rejected, humiliated and crucified because of the love of an African-American man to a Native American woman.

FADE IN:

The room is dark and the sounds of two people are in hot pursuit.

You can hear and sense the sultry bits and pieces of a woman's voice

as she begins to reach that ultimate sexual climax, but suddenly her

voice change to sheer terror as she screams in a high pitch tone.

The voice dies out, there's pure silence suddenly there’s a loud cry of a trilling tongue.

The scene fades to black.

CUT TO:

It's the late 70's and a woman is sitting in front of an old dresser with a mirror in a sheer negligee and brushing her hair with a silver antique brush. Her hair is long and beautiful.

There's a hand with a birthmark placed on her shoulder as she looks up and smiles.

The hand moves to the top of her head, grabs a chuck of her hair from the forehead and with a tomahawk scalps her and savagely sticks it to the mirror in one quick flash.

Monique wakes up startled.

FADE TO BLACK


Split Ends is centered on a troubled Black Chicago detective named Sam Mitchell. Sam is called back East to investigate the murders of Afro-American hairdressers who are being murdered, with their scalped remains stuck to their salon’s mirror. As a rookie in the late 70s, Sam was at the crime scene in Harlem where a Native American woman was murdered and severely scalped, her baby missing.

The case was never solved!
